our roots
Our humble beginnings began in Ladybrand, a small rural village on the border of the Free State and Lesotho. Today, Rain is a proudly South African international brand.
After establishing ourselves as a manufacturing wholesaler, we opened our first Rain branded store in 2005. The concept quickly took off, with more Rain stores opening across South Africa and around the world, including Ireland and New York. There are currently 30 Rain retail stores.
In keeping with family tradition and values, when Rain needed resources and expertise to grow beyond six stores, the Bosch family came on board as partners and investors, helping to expand the company’s international profile. Today, Rain’s new eco-friendly factory with a reduced environmental impact is located on the Bosch family farm, Dal River near Paarl in the Western Cape. It is no coincidence that Dal River is home to the Olive Factory, which produces extra virgin olive oil on the farm, the main ingredient in Rain’s handmade olive oil skincare and beauty products.
replenish and nourish
Let us help you replenish your soul and nourish your skin by indulging in any of our natural skin care products for women and men.
We seek out and infuse the rich and ancient pharmacopoeia of tribal Africa into each of our unique skincare solutions. These wild-harvested oils and botanicals, such as baobab, marula, rooibos, mongongo nut and more, harness the powerful actives found in natural plant extracts to nourish and revitalize your skin.
We celebrate and reflect the uniqueness of nature in our distinctive handcrafted designs, while ensuring you get the same benefits and high quality every time you indulge in a Rain product.
Pamper yourself by purchasing any of our EU and US compliant products online, or delight your senses with a visit to any of our global stores.
nourish the environment
Before a product hits our shelves, it is not only tested for efficacy and safety, but also to ensure its low environmental impact. The all-natural ingredients we use are harmless to the environment and the skin, and provide the nourishment and regeneration it needs.
We are passionate about our planet and believe in nourishing it through recycling, reducing and reusing. Our energy efficient and solar powered manufacturing processes ensure a low environmental impact and the factory creates no harmful effluents. We use treated groundwater in the factory and recycle factory wastewater to irrigate our olive trees.
support and talk about life
At Rain, we support small suppliers and producers, sourcing our natural ingredients from people who sustainably and wildly harvest them in remote areas of Southern Africa, while our products and gift boxes are handcrafted by skilled artisans.
None of our products or raw ingredients are tested on animals. At Rain, we work together to replenish, nourish, nurture and sustain life.
